Looking for Air..

At the end of my Zone week, been busy doing stuff that requires some focus, hence long nights alone. It´s been a while since a was in the "zone". had a one day visit to CHP (Calas High Performance) basically replacing bushings and straighten rods for the street motor,  but also to pick up inspiration. Servicing both the Street 96 " and "Mom". The Gearbox was ok, leakdown ok,  finished a sketch drawing for new pistons to the street motor which I mailed of to Ross Racing Pistons. Last season last race I logged low AFR at high speed, so I need to figure that somehow, so being low budget and not able to afford dyno time this year I have to work with what´s on the shelf. The other thing is that Dynos´doesnt simulate speed condition very well... The change we made before the last runs was that we did not port out the exhaust valve seats and I came out with a 10.16 run,  which is p.b. but with less top speed. So I had a pair of huge Velocity stacks laying around, and last night I milled out a raceworthy clamp. This is going to be interesting.

Go figure..

Getting ready for a week "In the Zone" I rearranged some and started to list things to do, leak down, the slight resistance turning the rear wheel, install two step rpm limiter, and general check up, etc, etc.
I got the rear wheel of in no time after ruling out the brake, and then the wheel itself, after removing the clutch, and checking the gearbox it appears tho be just perfect just like butter when rolli`n the main, so next will be drain and flush the gbx oil (RedLine), my guess is that this oil cold is just stickyer....
First is undressing "Mom"...

Yepp

I´m in the shop, checking for some rollin resistance in the rear wheel possibly thru the gear box, something is off, but i will find it.
Sorting out overhauled FHP heads and a pair of repaired "Quench" heads for street motors, the silverish colour is "Sermetel" alumium base coat with good corrosion resistance.

What´s it all about..

Rules in Pro Twin Bike mandates that the rider starts the bike using the onboard system, I kick start which gives the advantage of carrying less Amps and  less weight. The disadvantage is not being able to set mech. comp. much higher than 13,5.  A few years back the pushbutton racers got a change to the rules allowing remote batterys which kind of took a bite out my advantage, but I´m not whining about it. But what the hell I wouldn´t mind a class with no wheelie bars and Kick start only...... It´s kind of complicated to explain, but I still believe I have some advantage, running much less complicated electrical and the fact that I´m challenged to be properly tuned at all times. I do have a remote starter when I´m up on a lift or stands, and it has saved me a lot of grief when lost in tuning and little time to T/S.
